Slugs, please stay home

The American Dream is a concept in which a person can be rewarded in direct correlation to the amount of work he puts in and the risks he takes. To some, that reward comes in the form of cold hard cash. For others it's a small house in a cozy neighborhood and a gaggle of rug-rats. But for all who pursue that dream, there's always the possibility of doing better. Always.

When I see a big beautiful home, I think how nice it would be to have one myself one day. When a Progressive sees a big beautiful home, he turns red with hatred for those occupy it, unless of course, it's his own... or that of a movie star.

The American Nightmare is a new concept in which a person is rewarded with a pittance for risking nothing and staying home. His reward always comes in the form of a life of serfdom. His only value is his vote. His concept of doing better is a one percent cost-of-living raise on his monthly check. He is utterly dependent upon those who choose to pursue The Dream. He can be led to believe there is an endless supply of trinkets, and that they just magically vaporize. He can look all around himself and see with his own eyes the destruction his vote has wrought, and still be made to vote the same way.

The person who chooses the Nightmare, is a person who has either never acquired, or given up on the ability to think in a critical way. He is lost forever. He is the type of person who can vote for someone he's never of heard in the name of hope and change, but have no idea what he's hoping for or what it is he wants to change.

There is no point in trying to turn him around. His mind is not accessible in that fashion. He is gone. In my mind it would be better to pay him his pittance in exchange for his silence. Once upon a time, he was the person who could be counted on not to vote.

Hopefully, soon, with a little work and humiliation, we'll drive him back to collecting his check and shutting up.

If you are an able bodied adult, with a relatively capable mind, and you can stay home and live off the fruits of others without remorse, and vote only to keep your check coming in, you are a slug. I beg of you to rely on your natural tendency toward laziness and stay home on election day. Not only do I beg you, it's what I'm paying you for. At least do the one thing your job description asks of you.
