Young people are idiots. Plain and simple. If you are under the age of twenty-five, militant in your politics, and you are Progressive, you have been duped, and it was done with incredible ease. That is because you are stupid. You can be rallied at any moment, and you can be counted on to follow orders and never question. You lack the ability to think critically. You are not yet even able to grasp the concept of critical thinking. You are a political zombie.
The good news is, everyone goes through this at one level or another at some point in their lives. And there’s a cure: experience. You just have to get out and find it. Let’s just hope you do it while you’re still relatively young.
But for now, you’re just a moron with the right to vote.
You are the grease that keeps the wheels of destruction turning. You can be swayed with pretty words and a soothing voice. You can be counted on to vote for people you've never heard of, and you will follow those people with love and devotion. You are young and you are smart, but you lack knowledge of the past, and are therefore missing the tools necessary to make decisions regarding the future.
It is the young mind, all cluttered with ideas of togetherness and harmony, that can always be counted on to march down the road to ruin.
All that said, it is NOT your fault. One cannot lay blame at the feet of a child. It is the fault of those who came before you. They have learned the ease at which your mind can be bent. Some do it with genuine moral intent, but most do it with evil in their hearts.
A politician sets out to be a politician because he wants to be a politician. He works very hard at it. He takes a heck of a beating from his opponent to get there. Basically, he goes through hell to get your vote. Most old farts have moved on past the politics of hatred, but it works with flying colors on you. Your favorite politician has gotten very good at delving into the darker recesses of your soul and pushing the necessary buttons. For the most part, you don't vote based on issues. You vote based on what the Silver-Tongued Devil has told you is bad. You vote against something you hate. And if you vote Progressive, it's because you are so filled with hate you feel compelled to put a stop to all things you find questionable. Your only defense for most things political is an expletive-filled rant that never actually touches on the point at hand.
As a politically active, Progressive young person, this is your role in how the idea of America is fast becoming a forgotten trinket collecting dust on a crumbling mantle. You are only one part of the equation, but a part of the equation you are.
You are a pawn in a game played by those much smarter than you, and they play you so well. You are taught the answer to hatred is hatred, and you eat it up like a slice of last night's vegan pizza. You can somehow tie poor hygiene to civil disobedience; defecating on someone else's stuff to making a statement.
You, my young and confused friend, are a complete disaster.
Yes, you play a role in this huge mess, but at least there's hope for you. You can be turned around some day.
Keep in mind: Because a person has much, he is not responsible for you having none. It is because you are lazy and you are stupid.
